  2. My biggest (and grossest) kitchen mishap was when I was about 11 years old. I was trying to bake cookies while I was home alone and used salt instead of sugar :p That's not the mishap tho... I didn't check the oven first and almost set the house on fire by leaving a wooden wok in the oven!

I love my slow cooker and this would be an awesome book to have!

  4. So I have to say that my biggest kitchen disaster, was TOTALLY not my fault, but being a good wifey, I cleaned it up anyway. My husband has bees and he feeds them sugar water. We takes a glass gallon jar, and fills it full of sugar, then pours in boiling water, and stirs until it is all dissolved and syrupy. So anyway, he couldn't find his wooden stirring spoon so he used a metal spatula. Stir stir stir....the glass bursts on top of the oven spilling a gallon of sugar syrup all over the oven, and then down the sides, and under. That is the biggest mess I have ever had to clean up, and now, we use plastic gallon containers instead of glass!!!

  6. I love to bake and have since I was very young. I didn't realize baking soda could go bad. I made a cake and it didn't rise! I was crushed but now I know.

  8. I was newly married and we lived in Northern daho, we would come down here in late summer to visit family and pick blackberries. I made blackberry jelly. I couldnt see letting all those berries goe to waste that I had just juiced, so I froze them and in the middle of the Idaho winter, I surprised my husband with a blackberry pie. Being the sweet husband that I have, he ate almost a whole piece, before asking me where I got the berries, when I told him that they were leftover from making jelly last summer, he lovingly explained to me that although he really appreciated the thought, since I had already taken all the juice out of the berries, the pie was pretty dry and tasteless, however, the crust was wonderful.
