Grand Trunk Single Hammock

I loved that the packaging was minimal.

I was given the chance to review this Grand Trunk Single Hammock and after a day of testing it out, I think I'm ready to give you my opinion. First, I loved that the hammock came in minimal packaging. There is nothing worse than buying an item and ending up with mounds of packaging, plastic and other wrappings scattered all over.

It's easy to start setting up. 

This hammock is constructed from parachute nylon and is incredibly strong. This single hammock has a weight limit of 400 lbs, meaning it's big enough for two if you don't mind it being "cozy". At one point while we had this set up, all 4 of our girls were in this hammock, comfortably, swaying in the breeze, just hanging out. Granted they are young, but still it was nice to know that if we needed to keep them all off the ground and dry, we could in this hammock.

Everything you need for hanging the hammock is ready to go in the pack, making it quick to set up. 

Set up was a breeze, the hammock came with pre-tied hammock hanging kit which is comprised of 2 heavy duty nylon cordage loops ready to go around the tree. The hammock is also set up with nautical grade carabiners to clip into the nylon loops. To begin, you simple feed one end of the pre-tied loop through the other around a tree, or in our case, a stout limb.

Get it where you want it.

Make it nice and tight.

Then you just have to clip the carabiner on each end of the hammock through the loops, like so.

The hammock is set up! We timed it and start to finish, it took us 5 minutes to set this up and that was with me pausing to take pictures. Pretty darn impressive if you ask me.

Relaxing in the hammock!

I was pretty impressed with this hammock, especially when compared to the ones we already own. It's well constructed without weighing a ton, it's got quality ropes and stitching, the carabiners are a fantastic addition and the parachute nylon is sturdy and durable. This hammock has found a permanent place in our camping gear, and we're seriously considering another one or two for our preps as well. I was impressed with the product and can see us using this a lot while we are out and about. 

Grand Trunk states that they believe in getting out and discovering the world, and I can't imagine a better way to experience the outdoors than a nice hike and a little rest in this hammock. 

In fact, we did just that while we were testing this hammock out. It was a beautiful day in our neighborhood!! 

In less than a minute, the hammock is ready to pack away. 

As fast as this hammock was to set up, it was almost faster to take down. And unlike a tent that never seems to want to fit back into the package, this hammock squished right back down and was put away in less than a minute. The quick set up/take down really makes it easy to want to always use the hammock, and because you know it will only take a little while to get it ready, it's perfect to keep in the car for impromptu relaxation sessions.
