This post is exciting for 2 reasons; 1) I've been wanting to make this recipe forever and I keep seeing it on Pinterest and 2) I have wanted a Bosch Universal Mixer for about 2 years now. I love my Kitchen Aid, I really, really do, and it's served me well for just about 12 years now. The problem is that my family and the size of batches I need to make are getting out of it's range of possibilities.
This mixer is less of an appliance and more of a piece of equipment. The recipe I'll share with you in a bit uses 10 1/2 cups of flour and the Bosch mixed that amount up like it was whipping cream. I've only had it for a short while, but it made my weekly bread making go from kind of a pain to something I can enjoy again.
I know I had some interest in just what this mixer looks like, is shaped like, overall dimensions and the like, so before we get to the recipe let me share a couple pictures to help you wrap your head around a mixer that is slightly different in shape than a Kitchen Aid.
So, here it is. The piece you see on the right to the side is the attachment base for the blender, so it has that as an attachment option. You can also buy food processor, chopper/shredder, meat grinder, juicer and many other attachments that you can buy (separately, of course) for all of your food preparation.
The bowl is about 10 inches wide and comes with a 2-part lid. The smaller center section can be removed so you can easily add to the bowl without spilling or stuff flying out of the bowl.
The base is about 12 inches wide and has suction cups on the bottom so the unit won't scoot around on the counter. When I'm kneading dough in my Kitchen Aid, this is one of my biggest pet peeves. I know more than one person who's had their mixer wiggle it's way off of a counter and fall onto the floor when mixing something substantial.
Overall, the Bosch is about 11 inches tall or so. Like a Kitchen Aid, this mixer comes with a dough hook and a set of beaters. Unlike a Kitchen Aid, this mixer requires some counter space to sit on. For me, it's a trade off that I'm willing to make.
So far, I'm very, very happy with the Bosch Universal Mixer. I can see it being a workhorse in my kitchen for years to come. I know there are a lot of die-hard Kitchen Aid users out there, and believe me I was one of them, but I don't know. The ability to mix batches of bread dough with 16-18 cups of flour at once is pretty hard for this serious bread-baking mama to pass up. Also, with the completely closed mixing bowl, I can use this baby to make butter and save the life expectancy of my antique electric butter churn. Knowing that I can pack my big butter churn away and have that extra counter space is another bug plus for me.
Of course, time will tell as it does with all things. I'll keep you updated periodically on my review of this mixer. Unless something major happens, I can see this being one of those items I encourage people to purchase.
Now, on to the One Hour Cinnamon Roll Recipe. You may have seen it on Pinterest, or have heard of someone trying the recipe. I got it from Valley Ridge Recipes and this isn't something I do very often, but I'm going to send you over there because she has really great pictures that I think will help you with the recipe. The comments are also very helpful if you have questions. There is just so much information on that page that I think might be helpful. Here's the link: One Hour Cinnamon Rolls .

I soooo have to have one of those mixers!! I have a Kitchenaid that has been sent to the basement. I don't use it much and it, too, takes up space. What I really dislike is its clunky to move around. More stylish than the Bosch, but really clunky. I'm also not overly impressed with its mixing abilities--bread dough. The meat grinder and shredder attachments are only so-so. The grain grinder (which I did not purchase but borrowed)...uh in a word....No. Its only good for very small quantities and it started smelly very hot.
