Stink, Stank, Stunk

Ever have a smell in your house that you just can't find? I searched for the smell day and night. I scrubbed the kitchen clean, bleached the fridge out, cleaned the drains. Nothing helped. What was the smell and where did it come from? Did something die under the house? Did a mouse die in the wall? Did I forget to put something away on grocery day? (That has happened before.) Yesterday I couldn't take it any longer, I started taking everything out of the cabinets, sorting through it, wiping the shelves down and putting everything back. I was on my last cabinet when I was struck by the fumes, it was here somewhere. I took all the pots and pans out expecting to find a dead little critter. But no, there wasn't one. When I was putting everything back in, I picked up the bread machine and heard something rattle inside. I opened the top and KAPOW there was my stink. One of my children had put a potato inside and it was now swimming in a pool of nastyness. Mmmmm, potato bread anyone? Glad I found it and it's gone!
